Tanzania Safari Cost | Northern Parks

Understanding the cost of a safari in Tanzania involves considering various variables. When requesting quotes, you will quickly realize that there are multiple rates, itineraries, and organizations, and not all safaris are equal.

The fixed costs are the same for everyone, including park entrance fees, concession fees, conservation fees, various government taxes, guide fees, food expenses, vehicle rentals, and transfers.

The difference in safari costs comes from the safari's duration, the parks visited (each park has a different cost), the distance covered, the included activities, but most importantly, the accommodation category. Indeed, sleeping inside a national park can be expensive, but there are options available for all budgets, ranging from self-set-up camping tents to luxurious and exclusive lodges.

In this article, you will find some examples of price ranges based on safari duration and park category. Additionally, an explanation of the six different lodge categories is provided.

A safari lodge is a type of accommodation that can be found in African national parks and reserves. These lodges vary in terms of quality, comfort, and luxury, and can be classified into different categories based on their level of quality and amenities. Here are the different categories of safari lodges:

Safari Lodge Standard

These lodges are the most affordable and offer simple accommodation. They can be basic, with essential facilities such as shared showers and toilets, or more comfortable with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms. Lodges in this category are perfect for budget travelers who want to spend as much time as possible on safari without worrying about comfort during the night. Hot water is not guaranteed in this lodge category.

Safari Lodge Superior

Lodges in this category offer more comfortable rooms and modern amenities, such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and television. They are often located in more popular areas of the national park or reserve and may offer views of the surrounding wildlife. The meals are also of higher quality, with more diverse options.

Safari Lodge Bush Camp

Bush Camp lodges offer spacious and elegant Safari tents for an authentic jungle experience. The meals are of high quality and often provide a gourmet dining experience. These tents are usually located in secluded areas and offer stunning views of the surrounding wildlife. They are often equipped with a king-size bed or two comfortable twin beds, as well as a seating area and a private bathroom. Unlike standard tents, luxurious tents are equipped with electricity and Wi-Fi, allowing you to stay connected with the outside world while enjoying nature. It's a unique travel experience that combines the adventure of wildlife with the comfort and style of a luxury hotel.

Safari Lodge Semi-luxury

Semi-luxury lodges offer larger and luxurious rooms with high-end amenities such as a swimming pool, spa, and a semi-gourmet restaurant. The meals are of high quality, often featuring tasting menus. Semi-luxury lodges also offer additional activities such as private safaris and guided walks.

Safari Lodge Luxury

Luxury lodges are the most high-end, offering spacious and elegant rooms with stunning views of the surrounding nature. The amenities are top-notch, featuring branded toiletries, premium bedding, flat-screen TVs, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Luxury lodges also boast additional facilities such as a swimming pool, a world-class spa, a cocktail bar, and gourmet restaurants.

Safari Lodge Total Luxury

Grand luxury lodges are the most exclusive and offer a first-class safari experience. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, featuring high-end amenities such as private pools, fireplaces, hot tubs, and outdoor showers. Meals are prepared by award-winning chefs, with a selection of top-quality wines. Grand luxury lodges also provide exclusive activities such as private safaris, romantic dinners, and personalized nature experiences.
